Spring Clean Your Car – The Things You Can’t See

Spring is here, the days are getting longer and after months of colder and wetter weather it’s a good time to give your car a little attention.

A spring clean might usually mean a wash, vacuum and clearing out everything that has accumulated over winter but there are a few less obvious things worth checking too.

Give your air conditioning some attention

It might not have had much use over winter but warmer days are coming. If your air conditioning isn’t cooling as well as it should or there’s an unusual smell when you turn it on it’s worth getting it checked before summer arrives.

Your cabin or pollen filter also plays an important role in keeping the air coming into your vehicle clean. Over time it can become clogged with dust, pollen and debris, reducing airflow through the system.

Check what winter has left behind

Wet roads, potholes and winter driving can all take their toll. Take a look at your tyres for uneven wear or damage and pay attention to any new vibrations, noises or changes in the way your vehicle feels on the road.

It’s also worth clearing leaves and debris from around the windscreen and under the bonnet where they can collect in drainage areas.

Don’t forget under the bonnet

Winter can be hard on batteries so if yours has been a little slow to start now is a good time to have it checked. Fluid levels, wiper blades and other everyday items are also worth a quick once-over.
