Mazda CX-8 achieves 5 Stars under new stringent ANCAP Rating
ANCAP have significantly raised the bar for vehicles tested from 2018 and now test and rate against four pillars of assessment. Across these they have implemented a range of enhancements to encourage manufacturers to improve the active and passive safety elements of their vehicles with a focus on a vehicle’s ability to protect children.
Vulnerable road user safety is also enhanced with over 100 different test scenarios focused on avoiding crashes with pedestrians and cyclists during day and night time driving.
David Hodge, Managing Director Mazda New Zealand, said it is an outstanding result for the new CX-8 and highlights the incredible emphasis the Mazda designers and engineers place on safety for the driver and passengers.
"It was particularly pleasing to see ANCAP engineers praising the CX-8’s ability to safely accommodate child restraints in all five rear seating positions. Children are most vulnerable when it comes to accidents and Mazda’s active and passive safety features are designed to provide the highest level of protection for them."
The 5 Star ANCAP rating applies to all three Mazda CX-8 Models.
